Friday afternoon found me on a mountain ridge with my dad, talking about the stone formations on the mountain (agate, quartz) and talking about the process of getting them from there to lotusstonejewelry.com. Off to the north, we could see Four Peaks and I got to chatter on about the amethysts that come from there (oh my). My dad is the kind of guy that is happiest when he's tinkering and building, on trips to the Home Depot together, and when we're grilling ribs and watching the Super Bowl (see you in an hour, Dad!!). So, it gave me some pause when my very typically masculine dad brought up that his birthstone is amethyst. I suppose I thought that this is one of those things that ladies are taught to think about and with which men don't bother? Obviously not. I feel a calling to make some amethyst cuff links, and maybe a chunky ring that can stand up to some wear now that I know better. I'll report.
