Blogging for luddites

Darlings, April is upon us!  As you might have noticed, I've made a commitment to blogging at least monthly.  This is a herculean slog.  Some of you may sneeze and find yourself with an accidental blog post, but, sadly, my sneezes come with different results.  Normally, I would use the birthstone du mois as a point of subject (diamonds, omg!), but the beauteous weather is seeping into my brain and leaving me yearning for dirt and renewed growth and my ROSES (also it is leaving me with a sense of impending doom for summer is soon to follow).  For those of you without the same compulsions, obligatory diamond links DO follow - just scroll to the bottom. March Aquamarines

March... I know it's been said more than once, but I still can't get over that it's a new year, let alone that it's already the 3rd month of it.  Oy.  March.  February and December are my favorite months because I always get to make a lot of gifts for you all, and being "in" on a surprise is so stinkin' much fun.  LOVE it.  This February was the first in which I really had any kind of surge for Valentine's orders and it really tickled me.  So, to all of you that gifted a sweetie or a friend, I hope they loved the surprise and thanks for letting me in on it.  Now that it's already MARCH (srsly), I'm...

February amethysts

Friday afternoon found me on a mountain ridge with my dad, talking about the stone formations on the mountain (agate, quartz) and talking about the process of getting them from there to  Off to the north, we could see Four Peaks and I got to chatter on about the amethysts that come from there (oh my).  My dad is the kind of guy that is happiest when he's tinkering and building, on trips to the Home Depot together, and when we're grilling ribs and watching the Super Bowl (see you in an hour, Dad!!).  So, it gave me some pause when my very typically masculine dad brought up that his birthstone is amethyst.  I suppose I thought that this...
