Collection: Opal & Tourmaline

Opal and Tourmaline are both birthstones for the month of October. 

Opal is believed to have originated in India where in Sanskrit it was called upala, meaning a “precious stone." Most opals are valued for their shifting colors in many different rainbow hues. This is a phenomenon known as “play-of-color.” Opals are synonymous with hope, balance, and restoration.

Tourmaline is a crystal that comes in a variety of colors. The name comes from the Sinhalese word toramalli, which means “stone with mixed colors". Ancient peoples believed this birthstone could inspire artistic expression because it has a color for every mood. Black tourmaline is said to protect the wearer and give self-confidence. Pink tourmaline represents love, compassion, and gentleness. Green tourmaline promotes courage, strength and stamina.
